Definitions
Major Release
A major release means a release of Aegir software with major functionality changes and/or additions where the first version number changes from one whole number to the next, e.g. ver. 1.0.0 to ver. 2.0.0
Minor Release
A minor release means a release of Aegir software with minor changes and/or additions where the second version number changes, e.g. ver. 1.0.0 to ver. 1.1.0 or ver. 2.1.0 to ver. 2.2.0.
Bugfix Release
A bugfix release means a release of Aegir software with no major or minor changes, but that contains a fix or fixes for one or more bugs, e.g. ver 1.0.0 to ver. 1.0.1 or ver. 2.1.2 to ver. 2.1.3.
End of Life
When the software reaches End of Life (EOL), Aegir will no longer provide additional minor or bugfix releases to a particular major version of the product. So for any release 1.0.0, all subsequent releases, minor (for e.g. 1.1.0) or bugfix (for e.g. 1.0.2) are EOL at the same time. To continue on a product release that will receive additional features in minor releases and/or receive bugfix releases, customers will want to move to the next major release.
End of Support
When the software reaches End of Support (EOS), Aegir will no longer provide technical support for that major, minor or bugfix release. To continue on a product that has technical support and the possibility of a bugfix release, customers will want to move to the latest minor version that is still supported, or to the next major release.
